Rental Cars in Los Cabos
The best way to explore the Los Cabos area is to rent a car at the airport. Most hotels arrange car rentals, too. Avis, Hertz, National, Thrifty and Dollar all have representatives in the area, and the most popular car of choice is a convertible Volkswagen, invariably in white or in red, made in Mexico, and surprisingly tough on dirt-rutted, unpaved roads. It is best to choose the unlimited mileage options as distances can be considerable. Special offers and bargaining make it possible to find a good deal. You don't really need a car unless you want to go into the wilderness or drive outside the two Cabo towns. You may even have more fun without a car; buses are quite frequent and any excursion in an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) takes you to snorkeling heaven.
